The warrior wakes later than usual, the sun already climbing its way to the highest point it would sit in the crisp blue of the sky. He emerges from his den with a great stretch and yawn combo, blinking sleep from his eyes. The night before he had been on a moonhigh border patrol which, Midnightfang having been its leader, took longer than normal because he had made sure to take detours here and there, show where he caught the fattest vole in existence (probably), the weird mushrooms he'd found sunrises ago, a small, abandoned nest in the base of an oak tree. Thus, he and the entire group had come back exhausted. So, the extra shut-eye is more than welcome.alpine
However, waking up late always makes him a tick anxious, wondering what all he's missed in the time spent curled in his nest. Every cat seems fairly occupied though, and it appears to be a relatively normal sunrise, at any rate. Relieved he seems to have not missed a thing, he stops by the fresh-kill to select a plump mouse and begins to chew through its thin fur. He cannot eat it fast enough though, paw pads prickling with the need to do something. As fangs tear through lukewarm meat, his bright yellow eyes scan the clearing for Hazelclaw, thinking that he could see if she needs any help. Or, perhaps Blueberry might require some assistance fetching herbs. Maybe he could even spend time with the kits residing in the nursery; Midnightfang does so enjoy the rambunctious and ruthless way kits played.
Alas, seeing none of the specified cats about, he opts inwardly to go on a one-cat patrol, mostly to renew scent markers but be it not beyond him to always bring back at least a piece of fresh-kill.
Once the warrior finishes his meal and discards the remains, he sets to grooming his black pelt; quickly, to be said, since once Midnightfang commits to a task he wants to set out as soon as possible. With one last stretch before he embarks, he starts to trot towards the camp entrance, but not before he notices a set of mottled green eyes staring up at him, wide.
Only then does he pause from his mission, ears perked forward in interest towards the small tabby apprentice. He tries to search for a name to match the face in his mind but comes up empty. "Hey, everything okay?" Midnightfang asks with his head tilted to the side.
